Terms and Conditions
You must accept and agree to the Terms and Conditions Statement outlined on the ‘Search the Images’ page to gain access to the collection. Once you have clicked ‘I agree’ you will be taken to the main search page. Searching for Images
There are four ways of searching for images:
1. Place Explorer
This allows you to search for images by place using a map of the Walsall Borough. By clicking on a particular town, you can find
all the photographs relating to that place.
2. Keyword Explorer
This allows you to browse through a number of keywords to help you find what you are looking for.
3. Theme Explorer
This allows you to browse through five themed categories: housing, work, education, leisure and transport.
4. Free Text Search
This allows you to enter specific words or short phrases to focus straight in on what you are looking for.
Search Results
The results of your search will be displayed on screen as small ‘thumbnail’ images. Eight thumbnail images will be displayed per page. Use the 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons to move back and forward through the pages to see the full set of results.
Viewing the Images
By clicking on a thumbnail image, a larger version of the image will appear along with some accompanying information. You may enlarge the image further by clicking on the ‘Zoom’ button.
Browsing the Exhibitions
In addition to the image collection, our online exhibitions allow you to browse through a selection of 100 documents and 100 newspaper cuttings. They are searchable by theme only. The themed categories are: housing, work, education and leisure. In the same way as the images, you must accept the Terms and Conditions Statement before you can view the collection.
